AND OUR WHOLE CHARTER HAS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE, WITH THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, AS WELL AS THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
SO OUR CHARTER WAS ORIGINALLY PASSED IN 1948, AND SINCE THEN WE'VE HAD SIX CHARTER AMENDMENTS.
AND IN THE LAST EIGHT YEARS, WE'VE BASICALLY TOUCHED EVERY SINGLE, UM, WE'VE TOUCHED 64 OF THE 140 SECTIONS OF THE CHARTER.
SO WE'VE ABOUT 60% WE'VE, WE'VE OVERHAULED AND KIND OF BROUGHT UP TO DATE.
WE HAD A LOT OF WORK TO DO, SOME OF, YOU KNOW, UM, WE HAD TO BRING IT FROM, UM, TO UPDATE STATUES, TO UPDATE CODES, TO UPDATE PROCESSES.
'CAUSE WHAT HAPPENED IS WE LEFT A DORMANT FOR SO LONG THAT SOME OF THE LAWS JUST OF THE CODE NO LONGER MATCH THE LAWS OF THE STATE.
SO WE HAD TO FOLLOW LAWS OF THE STATE.
SO WE'VE DONE A LOT OF WORK SINCE THEN TO GO AHEAD AND TO, UM, MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH STATE LAW.

AND IN 2021, AT THE SAME TIME THAT WE ELECT THE MAYOR, WHICH IS A CITYWIDE ELECTION, UH, THE CITY COUNCIL CAN CALL A CHARTER ELECTION.
BASED ON YOUR WORK HERE, YOU WOULD PRESENT THINGS THAT YOU THINK, HEY, THIS IS STILL NOT UP TO DATE.
WE WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE THIS, OR WE WANNA DO THIS DIFFERENTLY.
AND SO THOSE ARE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD COME UP WITH AS WE GO THROUGH THE CHARTER AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL.

THEY WERE JUST TO ADD A SECTION NUMBER IN ONE SECTION AND TO, TO JUST CHANGE NO FINAL ACTION TO ADOPT A BUDGET.
SO IT WAS REALLY VERY LITTLE THINGS LEFT THAT WE FOUND IN 2018 STILL TO DO TODAY.
WE REALLY DON'T HAVE A LOT OF STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS.
BUT BESIDES THAT, WE HAVE NONE.
