IN 2004, SHE AND THE OPTIMIST CLUB STARTED FRIENDS, FEEDING FRIENDS FOR THE NEXT 12 YEARS.

AND, AND FRIENDS ARE ER, ARE REALLY, UM, FILL IN THAT GAP FOR, FOR A LOT OF INDIVIDUALS.
AND THERE'S JUST OTHERS THAT, UM, IT, THEY JUST DON'T WANNA PREPARE A WHOLE MEAL WHEN IT'S JUST A SINGLE PERSON.

FRIENDS, FEEDING FRIENDS OPERATED FOR 12 YEARS OUTTA THE COMMUNITY CENTER.
AND DURING THAT TIME, 15,000 MILLS WERE SHARED BETWEEN FRIENDS.
AND WHEREAS THIS YEAR, BAYTOWN SERVICE CLUBS HAVE JOINED FORCES TO CONTINUE THAT.
MS. BURTON STARTED THE LION, UH, THE LIONS CLUB, THE ROTARY CLUB, OPTIMIST CLUB, PILOT CLUB, AND THE KIWANIS CLUB ARE ALL PITCHING IN TO FEED 2000 FREE MEALS TO THOSE IN NEED.
THIS NOVEMBER 28TH FROM THE BAY, UH, AT THE BAYTOWN COMMUNITY CENTER, BEING THE, THE BAYTOWN ALL CLUB FRIENDS, FEEDING FRIENDS THANKSGIVING FEAST.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT, UM, I SPOKE TO HIM ABOUT IS THE BUSINESS CAN DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO PREVENT IT, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN A TRUCK DRIVER LEAVES, UM, WHEN THERE'S A BUSINESS THERE, IT'S STILL A POSSIBILITY TO INCREASE TRUCK TRAFFIC.

BAYTOWN HAS THE ABILITY TO FINANCE THIS TYPE OF PROJECT.

SO, AZALEA, IT IS MY HONOR TONIGHT TO RECOGNIZE AZALEA SPREADER.
AS DISTRICT TWO'S VERY FIRST DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN AZA HAS MADE A LASTING IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY.
THROUGH HER TIRELESS DEDICATION TO CONNECTING NEIGHBORS AND IMPROVING OUR DISTRICT.
SHE FOUNDED THE BAYTOWN PELLY NEIGHBORS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION.
SHE'S ACTUALLY ORGANIZED SEVERAL LOCAL EVENTS, APPLIED AND BEEN GRANTED, UH, SEVERAL GRANTS.
UM, SHE'S BEEN A DRIVING FORCE IN FOSTERING COMMUNICATION BETWEEN RESIDENTS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT.
SHE'S HAD OFFICER KING AND SOME OTHER PEOPLE COME OUT AND, UH, TALK TO MY NEIGHBORS.
UM, AND, AND MANY OTHER LOCAL DEPARTMENTS.
SHE'S INVITED OUT, UM, THROUGH HER LEADERSHIP, SHE'S BROUGHT US CLOSER TOGETHER, KEEPING US INFORMED AND ENGAGED.
AZALEA'S EFFORTS ARE INVALUABLE AND SHE TRULY EXEMPLIFIES WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AND A COMMITTED LEADER, NOT ONLY IN DISTRICT TWO, BUT IN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN.

UM, THEY'RE GOING TO PROVIDE FREE YARD GAMES, A GLOW ZONE, AND A TODDLER ZONE.
OH, AND THIS YEAR ROLLER SKATING, $5 PER TRACTION FOR CHILDREN AND $10 PER TRACTION FOR ADULTS.
UM, THE P AND R DEPARTMENT HOSTED ITS ANNUAL EPIC SPECTACULAR AT THE EDDIE V.
THEY HAD 124 VOLUNTEERS THAT LOGGED 621 GUESTS.
UM, ANOTHER BIG PROJECT COMING UP IS THE WEST TEXAS DRAINAGE PROJECT.
UM, THEY DID HAVE A OPEN HOUSE, I THINK IT WAS ABOUT A WEEK AGO, WHERE YOU COULD COME IN AND I APPRECIATE FRANK AND SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE FROM, UM, THE DRAINAGE PROJECT TEAM THAT, THAT SPOKE TO ME AND EXPLAINED SOME OF THE THINGS OVER THERE.
BUT I KNOW THERE'S SOME INFORMATION ONLINE IF ANY CITIZENS WANT MORE.
BUT THAT DRAINAGE PROJECT WILL BE STARTING, UM, ACTUALLY THE SECOND WEEK OF DECEMBER AFTER THE CHRISTMAS PARADE.
UM, ANOTHER EXCITING NEWS, A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING ME ABOUT THIS, THE ROOSTERS RESTAURANT IS ALMOST COMPLETE AND FINAL INSPECTION PENDING.
AND, UM, SO I THAT HOPEFULLY Y'ALL HEAR ME.
I'M GONNA SAY IT AGAIN 'CAUSE I'VE HAD LOTS OF PHONE CALLS ABOUT THIS.
THE REMODEL OF THE ROOSTERS RESTAURANT IS ALMOST COMPLETE AND THEY HAVE FINAL INSPECTIONS PENDING.
AND ONE MORE EXCITING THING, UH, WAY BACK IN THE DAY, WE USED TO HAVE A WENDY'S ON OUR SIDE OF TOWN AND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A PERMIT THAT WAS ISSUED FOR A NEW WENDY'S RESTAURANT AT 1907 DECKER.
I KNOW I WILL TRULY MISS THE ORIGINAL RIA AND THE FAMILY THAT RAN IT FOR MANY, MANY YEARS.
UM, I KNOW THAT'S MY PLACE TO GO WHEN I NEED SOME CARDO AND THEY'RE AMAZING.
THE FAMILY JUST, IT WAS TIME FOR THEM TO RETIRE AND UM, THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE SOLD THE BUSINESS.
SO THAT'S WHERE THE WENDY'S IS GOING.
